What makes an urban exploration photographer noticed or well-known? Is it the number of photos he or she has collected, the calculated risk they take, or is it just the general hype about this new urban adventure? None of these – the most important reason behind any urban exploration photography hero is the extraordinary photos he or she has taken!
Exploring Urban Environment
By combining photo journalism, architectural photography, and exciting adventures, urban exploration photography becomes more and more attractive, especially for young semi-professional photographers around the globe. Just armed with their photo-equipment and following their spirit of discovery, people from different backgrounds explore old tunnels, smelly sewers, subway tracks, roofs and abandoned places of their environment – taking nothing but photographs, leaving nothing but footprints.
The results of those expeditions often are amazing and stunning photographs, presenting the city from sensational perspectives, revealing locations no one ever thought about… The following list of urban exploration photographers is not intended to be exhaustive and just includes boys and girls I stumbled upon or came in touch with due to my addiction for spectacular photos of urban environment. If your photo-archive also includes great urbex photographs or if you know any talented guy I should check out: drop me a line.
Well-known urbex photographer Neil Ta wrote a nice, 35 pages urbex ebook guide, coming up with a bag full of tricks and best-practices for urban photography beginners – It’s available for free, so get it now!
