Top 5 of Urban Artcore 2011

Yep, it’s the end of the year which means that it’s time for the annual top-list reviews! Back in 2010, I collected the Top 3 Urban Art Books and honored the Top Urban Artists and for sure I’m going to create some similar top-lists also for 2011! But before I’ll do so, I thought it probably would be interesting for you to get to know this year’s five most popular Urbanartcore posts, for what reason I deeply eyed the traffic statistics to find the most visited articles which were published during the last 52 weeks. Here are the most popular posts in 2011:

  1. Graffiti Wars: Banksy vs. Robbo
In August 2011, the crazy battle between Banksy and Team Robbo climaxed with the broadcast of the Graffiti Wars urban art documentary examining the creative tensions and conflicts between those popular representatives of street art and graffiti…
  2. 1UP Graffiti – One United Power
In November, Berlin’s most famous 1UP crew put the cat among the pigeons by announcing the first official 1UP movie! Including hours of nice graffiti action from around the world it’s definitely one of the best graffiti documentary I’ve watched so far – read my review to get to know more details…
  3. Banksy of Bulgaria
Dubbed Banksy of Bulgaria by some news agencies, a graffiti crew transformed statues of Soviet soldiers at the base of a Soviet Army monument into superheroes and cartoon characters back in June!
  4. Unlike U – Trainwriting in Berlin
Unlike U is the second graffiti/ train writing documentary in this top-list. It recently attracted press attention again, when a major train company went to court to fight against the movie.
  5. Murals: Roa in Mexico
Back in February, famous urban artist Roa staggered the world with some impressing new murals from Mexico. All the better that he also came to Berlin in July and visited Australia a few weeks ago…

I’m pretty sure, there will be similar interesting urban art news in 2012 as well! So make sure to subscribe the Urbanartcore RSS feed or to become a fan on Facebook!

More 2011 top-lists soon…
