Graffiti Talk: Os Gêmeos Interview

There are many reason, which describe why in my opinion it is great to get to know as much as possible about the mostly unknown artists behind that often wonderful artworks on the streets, walls and trains in our cities.

One reason is, that interviews give artists the chance to explain their artworks, their emotions and the history of their doings, what gives them the chance to make people understand and in the same way to bring their artworks in a public dialogue…

Some days ago, the famous graffiti artists OsGêmeos from Brazil gave an interview to the ilovegraffiti crew. They talked about how they started with graffiti, about their round-the-world trip and whether they like Berlin more than New York…

ILG: How do you feel today about the Urban Discipline exhibitions in the early 2000’s in Hamburg? Here in Germany it was a big experience for many graffiti artists and we would call it a milestone, do you agree?

Os Gêmeos: Yes. It was a very important show for us. One of the biggest opportunities. We met amazing writers from Germany and all over Europe. Everyone brought their own history to Urban Discipline. It was such a great thing to bring a little piece of Os Gemeos from Brazil and show what we believe in and how we live down here. We remember that some people didn’t understand what we did there in this exhibition, some of them even didn’t know that graffiti had become a big thing in Brazil too.[...]

I hope that people will never get tired to ask artists why they are painting and what’s the claim of their artworks. Sometimes, the artists are more interesting than their artworks…
